Visits to family doctor and primary emergency services fell by more than one million during the first quarter of this year for the first time in Catalonia, which represents a decrease of 8.8% in the overall activity of the Catalan Institute Health. In particular, inflows to the GP decreased by 7.4%, the 13.6% of pediatric emergency and 4% did. The realignment has structural and cyclical reasons. On the one hand, this year there was no epidemic of seasonal flu, which was confused with the flu in late 2009. In addition, the brake of the migration flow has stabilized health cards, the introduction of electronic prescriptions and an increase in telephone consultations also influenced the decline.
