The flu increased by 30% in the Region to 102 cases per 100,000 population

Flu cases in the Valencia increased by 30 percent this week to register 102.5 cases per 100,000 population compared to 78.9 of last week, as contained in the website of the Department of Health.
In this regard, the Minister of Health, Luis Rosado, pointed out, introducing the Occupational Health Strategy 2011-2013, that despite this increase of 30 percent the incidence is still lower than that recorded last year at this time and is below the national average.
The flu is affecting mostly children under 4 years, followed by age group 5 to 14 years. In contrast the least affected are those over 65 years.
However, we noted that between two cold waves and therefore "are picking respiratory diseases and influenza." Thus, stressed that "we are producing a greater optimization of health resources" especially in Alicante, where they are producing higher hospital admissions.
The 91.08 percent of the 231 cumulative cases had not been vaccinated, so that the Minister has stressed the need for vaccination, especially in risk groups, as has been proven through its "effectiveness."
