Influenza activity in Switzerland : actual situation
Up-date 20th April 2011
Influenza activity and virology in Switzerland
Influenza activity reached back the level observed before the season start.
High majority of circulating strains are antigenically related to vaccine strains: influenza A/California/7/2009 (H1N1) and B/Brisbane/60/2008. Around 10% of influenza B strains are more related to influenza B/Wisconsin/01/2010, which is distinct from the vaccine strain.
Influenza A (H3N2) viruses that have been detected sporadically until now were genetically related to the vaccine strain influenza A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2).
Until now, 82 NA genes of influenza A (H1N1) 2009 were sequenced and no known resistance mutation was detected.
Influenza viruses detected per week and
proportion of medical contacts for influenza-like illness (ILI) for 1000 consultations
Cases are classified according to the date when the sample was taken.
