A 39-year-old man in the city was hospitalized for fever on December 21st and tested positive for H5N1. He died of multiple organ failure. And health authorities are trying to figure out where he acquired the virus. The H5N1 virus is carried by poultry and birds, and although highly dangerous to human beings, the virus cannot actually spread from person-to-person.
Hong Kong’s Center for Health Protection said on Monday that the virus found in the man was very similar to that recently found in wild birds in Hong Kong.
